Questions people ask

How does a job offer work?
A builder sends a business a price and how it is charged. The business accepts, counters with a different price, or declines, all in one message thread. The job is not yours to work until you accept — it stays in the offers list until then.
How do I add someone to my crew?
From the Jobs tab, add them by username once they have their own Handy account. They then see the jobs handed to them, book their own hours, and (if you allow it) ask for time off and log expenses.
Can I stop crew asking for time off or logging expenses through Handy?
Yes. On the Crew tab, Crew features has a switch for each. Turn either off and nobody on the crew can use it through Handy, though you can still add time off for them yourself.
What happens once a job is finished?
Mark it complete and it moves to awaiting the builder's sign-off. Once they approve it, mark it paid to close it out and, on a builder job, send an invoice or receipt from Finances.
How does subcontracting work?
If a job is more than you can get to, pass it to another business at a price you agree between yourselves. You still invoice the builder as normal; you pay the subcontractor separately once their part is done.
How do ratings work?
Once a job is signed off and paid, the builder rates the business and the business rates the builder, on time, quality and price. Neither side sees the other's rating until both have rated, or two weeks pass, so nobody rates in retaliation.
What does a verified licence tick mean?
Every listing shows the licence number supplied. A blue tick means someone at Handy has also checked it against the NSW Fair Trading register. It only affects ranking, not whether you can list.
